PROZAK & PAULO GOVEA PRESENTS… ...

April 12, 2012 8:00 pmtoMay 19, 2012 8:00 pm

Commissioned by Montana Gallery Barcelona, Prozak and Paulo Govea are presenting their work for the first time in Spain in an exposition called Sucio! (Dirty!).

Opening on Thursday the 12th of April, from 8pm. Exhibition from the 13th of April to the 19th of May 2012.

Prozak is the pseudonym adopted by artist Celso Mazo (São Paulo) in 2001 as a remedy for the social problems and incongruences of daily life.

In his latest series the color comes out like a multidimensional lump of organic material made from kaleidoscopic layers that invade dull areas of the city. This chromatic diversity that characterizes his work shows the saturation of information the this globalized world we live in and the effect that it has on the population.

Paulo Govea (São Paulo) self-educated in photography and multi-media, his job is based on exploring a playful universe where special people can raise questions related with art and life.

His work in Sucio! is a reflection of some of the values that make up capitalist society. He keeps a visual parallel and tells the difference between true dirt and moral filth.

Through a game of pictures, the artist is looking to throw the viewer off a bit and expose the extent of bias taxes from the so-called “financial success culture.”

P.H. ‘PSYCHODELICIOUS’ AT ...

March 24, 2012
7:00 pmto10:00 pm

Belgian writer and artist P.H. arrived in Barcelona and discovered the fountain of inspiration that he was missing in order to develop his art. For four years he was dedicated to complete his education in product design. He wanted to leave his mark in the city streets and develop his artistic evolution into an abstract style in which combines shapes and colors, but keeps a strong bond with graffiti represented by the pervasive black line in every one of his pieces.

On Saturday, March 24th at Montana Café we will be showing of a series of work on canvas done in 2011 to 2012 called “Psycho-delicious”. He revealed his recipe to us:

“The formula for my work can be summarized in four steps”:

1. Wash and cut up a portion of graffiti.

2. Select the best parts, toss them into the blender, grind up for a few seconds.

3. Pour out the contents onto a piece of canvas.

4. Leave it in the fridge for thirty minutes, and poof!… it’s all ready to serve!

We encourage you to come by and get a taste of his latest creations, some beer courtesy of Moritz and some other sweet surprises.

ANA LANGEHELDT ‘GALAXIA 17812′

March 8, 2012 8:00 pmtoApril 7, 2012 8:00 pm

Opening on Thursday the 8th of March, from 8pm. Exhibition from the 9th of March to the 7th of April 2012.

Ana Langeheldt, born in Seville and, according to her, an ‘inhabitant of planet earth’, presents her new work, titled ‘Galaxia 17812′ in Montana Gallery Barcelona.

LAHE178, as she’s known within the world of graffiti and urban art, came into contact with spray can art in 2001 during her Fine Arts studies in Seville.

Along her path, she has won numerous prizes and has participated in various expositions, by herself and as part of collectives, but it is within the world of graffiti that she is really in her element. In addition to doing murals, she has participated in numerous exhibitions and events, both in her home country of Spain and abroad, and she has been mentioned in international publications such as Graffiti Women, Mural Art Vol. 3, and Urban Art Boom.

LAHE178 combines her projects in the public arena with her other two great passions: painting and illustration.

Galaxia 17812 is an exposition of paintings and drawings which reflect the artist’s galaxy; 178 represents her name, and 12 represents this dangerous year in which we live. This is a new galaxy, running parallel to those of others, made up of stars and solar systems where real and imaginary creatures live.
