Here’s a two part interview with me on Vandalog. The interview covers abstraction, the realms of graffiti and fine art and decontructive ideology. Scott Sueme is an abstract painter and graffiti writer. His paintings are an exploration of spontaneity and intuition; a departure from his critically structured and designed letter based graffiti pieces. His process juxtaposes improvisation and strategy, layering dense shapes and bold colors over subtle tones and surfaces. The resulting narratives range from highly kinetic compositions to uniform geometrics.
Sueme currently works out of his studio in the Downtown Eastside in Vancouver. He continues to travel and showcase his work on an international level both outdoors and in galleries. He maintains to be a relevant figure in the graffiti culture, aspiring to openly converse on the art form and further its development through the discussion of technique and processes. - Scott Sueme es un pintor abstracto y escritor de graffiti. Su pintura explora la espontaneidad e intuición y se aleja de la estructura que caracteriza sus piezas de graffiti. Su proceso creativo combina la improvisación con una cuidada estrategia donde las formas densas y los colores fuertemente marcados se superponen sobre superficies de tonos claros. La narrativa resultante ofrece un amplio abanico que va desde composiciones sinuosas que simulan el movimiento (cinéticas) hasta figuras geométricas. Sueme trabaja actualmente en su estudio de Vancouver. Continua viajando y realizando exposiciones internacionales de su trabajo tanto en galerías como en espacios exteriores.
