Euskadi is another way of saying, Basque Country- an autonomous Spanish region located in the North of the Iberian Peninsula, on the shores of the Cantabrian Sea.
Although some believe that Euskadi Green got it’s name from the color of the stripe on the Ikurriña (the name given to the Basque Country’s flag), the true cause of this nomenclature is because of the color of the landscape that characterizes the region. Having a primarily mountainous geography, vegetation is more abundant up there than it is in the rest of the Iberian landscape.
It’s interesting to point out that Euskadi has it’s own interesting folklore and culture, among which you have the Basque language; a peculiar non-Indo-European language that makes apparent the ancestral uniqueness of the Basque people. Apart from the political issues that have attributed to the Basque Country being labelled as a conflictive territory, Euskadi boasts an unparalleled international gastronomic prestige that we urge you to try out for yourself.
