Jorge Rodríguez-Gerada is one of the most spectacular street artists today even though he isn’t as prolific as the most famous ones. From the most shocking realism to the most monumental land-art, Rodríguez Gelada’s art places much importance on nature. But for his latest intervention, the artist will use GPS technology to trace an image that will be filled in by volunteers from the Barcelona neighborhood, El Born.
This ephemeral urban painting performance will take place at Plaza Comercial in El Born, tomorrow, the 1st of October. You too can collaborate in this creation by simply showing up at the site at 10am. The intervention will be filmed live by the prestigious French channel, ARTE, among other press coverage.
The artwork will be an homage to commemorate the 465.000 people who between 1936 and 1939 formed the Republican exile and crossed the border of France. It’s a message conditioned by the artist’s identity (an immigrant son of Cubans exiled from the USA and a grandson of Spanish exiles in Cuba) who seeks to warn of the social problems that continue to be repeated, while inviting viewers to reflect and become aware of these very problems.
