Algaida 1982 Photographer, guitarist, saxophonist and electronic music producer: Her interest for these expressions started at a early age, first through listening to music as an escape and later when she got her hands on her first saxophone. At the age of eighteen a interest for imagery wakes up in her and she moves to Barcelona just like many others from her generation. She spends various years here. In the catalan capital she develops her skills in photogaphy, textile design and sound. After one year in Berlin she returns to her native island, and it is during the winter of 2012 when she travelled to New York that she produced her most significant work. There she spent 3 full months documenting the New York punk scene through a project called “NYC Ghosts & Flowers”. Her influences originates just as much from nature as from urbanisations, from classic music to Goth Rock and from Wolfgang Tillmans to the world of Instagram. |
