EMAK INTERVIEWED BY DRIPS

Due to the video we released to promote the new colors of MTN 94, Drips has closed in on Emak to present the works of this writer, and at the same time get a first hand sample of his opinions about the new colors. Heres a translation of the interview made.

How long have you been painting?

Since 1994

With which writers?

At the moment I paint with people I have both graffiti and friendship in common with, Harry Bones, Musa, Leim, Sacke, Miedo12 and Pro176 to name a few.

Do you only paint walls?

No, I also do studio works on canvases and sheets.

Where does your influences come from?

Basically from 90’s oldschool graff, when, to me, graffiti was more spontaneous, more street , less known, and more of a tool for the ones with less alternatives. Nowadays I like many different writers and ”artists”, people who came from a academic background in art, new technologies which enriches the scene with new possibilities and profesionalism, this is the mix of influences I have.

In relation to the new video made in collaboration with MTN:
Why did you do this collabo?

They offered me this idea and I loved it and was flattered to take part of it. I have painted with this brand since I was a kid, and being able to collaborate with them is always a pleasure. A big thank you to the ones that wanted me to take part of this.

What do you think of the new colors?

In theory these are colors I don’t usually use due to their tones, but they are still surprising in their final result. The harmony and aesthetic they bring to the wall are color ranges of very progressive character and they blend in very well with each other. This is what we search for, solid and bright colors.

What is your final impression after having tried the new colors?

They really surprised me in a positive way, some of the colors are not shades I am typically used to but they offer a lot. The right type of brown like Marron Chocolate for us who like browns, and the purple shades gives a brightness you don’t expect from them, and they are all colors worth using to try to create new combinations which we usually do not do. They will surprise you.

What is your general opinion of the 94’s?

Well, that they ate impossible to stop using, covers perfectly, good pressure of the can, a wide range of colors, resistant and with good pigments which guarantees that you will not have any problems.

If not the best, without doubt one of the best graffiti paints out there due to all the different qualities that it contains.
