One of the best things about our MTN Limited Editions is to fantasize about and plan the coming collaborations. Speculate on who will be new artist to give their design and how the work will look before it is printed on the spraycan is something truly exciting.
And this time it is especially emotional since the two Limited Editions we are about to announce presents two completely different sides of the creative sphere of aerosol, but, which at the same time represent a heterogeneous character within urban art, and most of all due to their importance among women in these sector. The artists we are speaking of are Musa71 from Barcelona, a writer which now celebrates 30 years of active painting, and Hueman, one of the most relevant and iconic names from the urban arts scene of the US west coast.
So, finally and after the events and presentations held yesterday these unique aerosol products are now available as restricted production objects.
HUEMAN
Hueman, born in 1985, is a California native whose influences stem from a childhood growing up in the East Bay, and a budding art career as a young artist in LA. Her interstate migrations have strongly shaped her distinct West Coast aesthetic, a perfect balance of chaos and control. Each piece begins with bold, sweeping abstract gestures, later restrained through tightly painted lines and photorealistic detail. The end result is a style she describes as “etherealism”: gauzy dream-like color fields that envelope fragmented subjects and prismatic shapes, creating works that appear to glow from within. Between the constant travel to crush massive walls around the world, painting delicate works in her Oakland studio, or collaborating with major brands on products such as sneakers, cosmetics, and video game consoles, Hueman’s work is never done. You can find her in galleries and on public walls as far as London, Detroit, Miami, Mexico, and Haiti.
MUSA 71
Few writers around the world could boast about a 30 year career as active and copious to that of MUSA71.
The number of pieces that she’s painted since 1989 when she began the discipline, the amount of places all over the world where she’s tread and left her name, and the quantity of writers with whom she has shared walls, experiences and laughs is incalculable. The crews she represents helps like a guide in explaining the attitude and role that her graffiti plays on the international scene. TFP and TDS have become legendary crews that represent the “New York old school” writers’ contribution to worldwide graffiti. FHJ represents her unwavering sense for friendship. Black Magic is a crew with which she shares the same values for commitment to graffiti and perseverance. Lastly, Fours represents the present and the future; this diverse mixture of passionate writers from different parts of the globe is united by a sincere bond of friendship.
Born in Barcelona in 1971, she has walked hand in hand with Montana Colors during her adult life, living out the evolution of this project that transformed into a brand from a front row perspective. However, the most admirable achievements of this wildstyle writer is undoubtedly having perpetuated the evolution of an unmistakable style, and having managed to consolidate graffiti as her way of life.
