“WK – Trespass”

WK (also known as WK Interact) was born in Caen, France, in 1969, but has lived and worked in New York since the early 1990s. A lover of cinema since he was very young, his work focuses on the movement of the human body, an interest that can be seen in his images of characters frozen in mid-flight, in the middle of the race, in the middle of a scream.
At the end of the 1990s, his works began to appear on the facades of New York. Mixed with the restless bodies of the city, they complement the perpetual movement of contemporary urban life.
The location of the work is its starting point. The walls of Soho, East Village and Lower East Side serve as support for his sometimes monumental murals, and it is the encounters in these urban streets, called “interactions” by the artist, that are at the heart of his identity. The importance of these intense and often violent interactions is manifested in the choice of his pseudonym, WK Interact. With photographs and drawings, stretched, twisted and photocopied, with his own techniques, the artist constructs monochromatic images, strong of the almost frenetic energy of the streets that surround them.
Today, WK is internationally recognized for its iconic style. His works are dynamic and intense, exhibited in galleries in Tokyo, London and Paris, but his work embodies a street art that remains inseparable from the streets that gave it light. After its passage through Paris, the exhibition WK Trespass arrives at Montana Gallery Barcelona.
