Pichiavo and Vhils have embarked on one of the largest mural projects in the northern hemisphere, and it has turned out to be a real challenge for the three artists.
3000 m² of surface area has been covered by the artists Pichiavo and Vhils during the beginning of June. The mural work is located in Oporto (Portugal) and it is the first collaboration between the Valencian tandem and the well known Portuguese artist. Apart from the challenge that obviously involves a production of these dimensions, the unification of the two styles has ended up in great style and satisfaction for the three.
“Working with other artists can teach you a lot. The exchange of knowledge and the practical challenges help you see things through different perspectives and be appreciative of both the differences and the way our visions can complement each other.”
In addition to the follow-up that has been done on the different Instagram accounts of the artists, the Expanding Roots studio has also edited a video documenting this pharaonic mural work.
“Located in Porto metro area (Portugal), this wall definitely required the biggest amount of paint we’ve ever used. We are super proud of the final result and for having joined forces with the great Vhils, the artist who penetrates through countless layers of posters, dirt, and plaster to set free the poetic images hidden beneath.”
