“Faneto”
“Faneto” is the word used by the rapper Chief Keef, in the song with the same name, to refer to finesse.
This ambassador of drill music, often distorts the image of luxury brands such as Versace and Gucci turning them into fetish icons of the street. Thanks to him, elegance and finesse become aggressive and grotesque.
When four artists from the world of graffiti appropriate four decorative arts techniques using their own cultural references, they transform the classic into something colorful, anarchic and childish. Are we talking, then, of another “Faneto” ?
“This car I got, it came from Barcelona”
The Barcelona artist Martí Sawe presents a series of iron sculptures intervened through welding and painting, while the Catalan artist Abel Iglesias shows an installation in which textiles, lights and paintings are mixed.
“These shoes I got, came from fuckin’ Paris”
Parisian 2shy has worked on a series of colorful tapestries made of wool, while Valencia-based Frenchman Paul Loubet focuses his work on inflatable textile paint and ink for screen printing.
All this at Montana Gallery Barcelona. Inauguration on Thursday 19 September at 20h.
