Den, Zeta, and Elphomega were in El Cairo last month. The photos, video, and words of Den are all that’s needed to give us a journey into the land of the pharaohs.
“Since I first started studying Egyptian Art, Ive always wanted to visit the country. That never happened until Dani Panullo asked me to participate in the fourth Cultura Urbana del Mediterraneo event, and to paint the “Townhouse Gallery” in Cairo, along side Zeta and Elphomega.
48 cans of 94 in my suitcase which was nearly 70 lbs….sheeeesh! Once I arrived in Cairo, Shady took us to a few shops to buy more materials as you’ll see in the video.
The inauguration party for the event took place at the Townhouse, where they put on a show from Panullo’s company that was going to be performed at the Open Air Theatre of Cairo Opera House on Friday, October 21st.
It was a great week amongst some awesome company: lots of laughs, a boat ride on the Nile, a visit to the pyramids, tea, Turkish coffee, Stella beer, rap, rehearsals, more rehearsals, Egyptians and Palestinian refugees in Syria teaching us about their cultures, a stroll through the Khan el- Khalili, arabic pastries, humus, contamination, honks and beeps, cross where ever you can, and the Cairo Museum… Everything was amazing!
