At first sight it is a bit difficult to identify the origin of this image that has been diligently posted around the web lately.
The open door does not let us see the surface of the train model which also is completely covered in paint. But still, the wavy metal relief of the wagon brings us further away from doubt… It is the the characteristic design of the red buenos Aires metro.
The whole wagon seems to be covered well, and as if that is not enough, the windows on the other side are also completely painted. The picture tells us a lot about the current situation of the metro in Buenos Aires: The shortage of resources is affecting the buffing of the trains. To constantly paint this system is a problem of finding you’re place to fit you’re piece on the panel, and also the strict hierarchy of size: You can only go over if you are painting something bigger. This is the reason for all the silver wholecars. It is interesting to identify the origin of the photo only by examining the style of the letters, but its impossible to pin point a exact geographical spot. The case is an example that reminds us of german graffiti styles, and Buenos Aires definitely has a mix of influences from everywhere, especially from Europe.
