“Parallel Realities” Opening Friday 6th of February 2015 at 20h.
Exhibition open from 7th of February to 27th of March 2015.
Peeta, also known as Manuel Di Rita, is a graffiti artist since 1993 currently living in Venice. He is a member of the EAD crew (Padova, Italy), FX and RWK crews (New York City) and has participated in graffiti jams and Meeting of Styles events in Europe and the Americas. His work explores the potential of sculptural lettering, both in painting and in sculpture.
‘Parallel Realities’ show explores the representation of the transition between different realities through the passage from one pictured perspective to another inside the same canvas. The described realities exist parallely: the observation of one from a proper point of view exclude the existence of the other at the same time, and vice versa.
While this is mostly the case of canvases, sculptures express the concurrence of different realities through their various and disrupted shapes: distinctive structures placed side by side, different surfaces contrastingly coloured or contrastingly patterned, as much as a break in the unity of the sculpture through splits and holes displayed inside. These techniques are used to render the effect of Parallel Realities.
