Last month we inaugurated the “Behind the Colors” section where we try to respond to a common question amongst MTN product users: How are the color names invented? So, the time has come to explain where another color came from.
The Rioja Red (MTN 94, RV-167) refers to a beautiful and recurrent shade of purple. Its inferred obvious meaning obliges us to give a brief breakdown on the relationship between Montana Colors colors and the wine world.
The first Montana Colors color to use an oenological reference was Bordeaux Red, whose nomenclature – generally used to refer to a burgundy color – refers to the wine produced in that region of France.
The name Rioja Red continues on that same line of thinking. La Rioja, a Spanish region known worldwide for its wine production, offers the perfect name that reuses the metonymic, ancestral relationship between wine and color, while providing a geographical proximity closer to that of Montana Colors’ origins.
Continuing on the topic, in the Hardcore range there is a Merlot Red; a particular variety of wine also originating from the Bordeaux region.
Ultimately, it’s easy to see that the world of wines has some kind of importance within the color ranges of Montana Colors, but for those of you who aren’t too fond of Bacchic drinks, we’d like to remind you that you can always choose Mojito Green.
