Rusto is a classic on the Italian train lines, and despite the fact that his untainted style speaks for itself, today he explains his three favorite pieces for us. Here are his Three Aces:
- I love this panel because I was experimenting some new letter loops like on the “R” and “S, mixed into a simple four color scheme. I used 4 shades of red that looked like one in the end, with a neutral white outline that bangs out from the dark background.
I remember this night because I was alone and so concentrated on getting a cool result. With a little bit of luck and a lot of studying, I got it.
- This panel has a similar concept to the red one. Actually, exactly the same one. Similar fill in colors with a dark background in contrast with the outline. I put a lot into the letters loops but wasnt so satisfied with the result because I got the proportions wrong, especially with the R. But those are just details, and you know what they say, the devil is in the details. 🙂
- My third panel choice is this one because I love this color scheme. I saw a cool drum’n’bass flyer in London with these colors and tried to fit them into my letters. I didn’t expect colors as different as flash pink and army green to go so well together.
Besides this, the yard was so quite that night so I could work slowly and precisely, take my time and go bigger.
