Within what is offered during the Bloop Festival held in Ibiza during August and September the Mexican artist Israel Guerra aka Spaik was invited to create on the walls of the El Soto tunnel, a until now aseptic construction on the popular Balearic Island.
The enormous intervention shows a snake used as a metaphor for human ambition and its consequences reflecting the transformation which the Island is going through.
“The snake is a very dual animal since it can both be predator as well as a prey, and it symbolizes the changes of the Island and all the people which is attracted to it because of money and wealth, which finally ends up being corrupt.”
This is the second work he has made on the Island and it complements the complementary owl which he created exactly a year ago for the same festival, also in a tunnel: the owl.
