With support of CONADI from the Ministry of Social Development of the Government of Chile, Daniel Marceli Millan aka, Chilote, has embarked on a new and exigent project that is poetically summarized in the video we’ve brought you below. With an introduction that features the words and rites of indigenous communities, the video explains the meaning of this mural -that was completed for Iniciativas Culturales Urbanas 2017- that proclaims the importance of the Huilliche traditions and cultural heritage; the southern branch of the Mapuche people.
“A mural is a scripture of symbols or simply objects that are placed in such a way that they make you look and ask yourself, what is this?“
“This painting speaks of we-tripantu: in this mural, a series of people are seen dancing around a rehue of canelos that are cut but keep growing.”
