The Polish artist, Michael SEPE, was the one held responsible for getting to work on the last 12+1 wall project by Contorno Urbano in L’Hospitalet del Llobregat. With this initiative’s future being held in suspense, this is the work that will close the project that’s been carried out on the La Torrassa wall for some time now.
“Samsara is a Sanskrit word that means “wandering” or “world”, and it has a connotation of cycle, and tortuous change. It also refers to the concept of rebirth and death of all life, matter, existence. The cycle of death and rebirth to which life in the material world is linked.”
The idea that this work conveys is directly linked to the nature of the 12+1 project, where the works have been cyclically replaced by each other, while the mural’s symbolism is also linked to its location: the tunnel that runs below the train tracks, on which painted trains circulate.
Since his adolescence, he has been connected to the graffiti and painting worlds, and Michael Sepe mixes different painterly styles on walls and canvases. This path gives continuity to his own past as a wall and train writer who is once again in contact with the constant change that is Samsara.
