NEW MTN LIMITED EDITION X SHEPARD FAIREY / OBEY GIANT

Shepard Fairey and Montana Colors reaffirm their partnership by launching a new MTN Limited Edition, a work which consists of three new aerosols designed by the North American artist.

Montana Colors presents a new collaboration with the renown artist, Shepard Fairey, creator of the OBEY brand. Seven years after the successful release of his first MTN Limited Edition can, the time has come to update our alliance with three new spray can models. The Beyond the Streets platform has once again taken part in curating this project which commemorates the 30 year career of this American artist in the form of spray cans.

Far from a retrospective take on Shepard Fairey’s artistic trajectory, the three designs aim to reflect his imagery in its current style. In terms of both aesthetics and content, each of the cans is in line with the works the artist will present in FACING THE GIANT: THREE DECADES OF DISSIDENT; two exhibitions that are inaugurating at the Beyond The Streets NYC Gallery and at Galerie Itinerrance in Paris.

“I’ve been using Montana spray paint for many years because it gives the best performance and durability of all the paint brands that I’ve tried out. When I was younger, and I was doing things very spontaneously, I wasn’t thinking about longevity, but even for an ephemeral art form like street art or graffiti, I think we all want paint to stand the test of time as much as possible. Creating and releasing these cans with Montana, which showcase my art using the paint that I use for my fine art in the studio and the murals that I make, it’s a logical and awesome collaboration. Thanks for giving me a little bit of love and another canvas for me to work on. It’s very meta – the can that makes the art, that ends up on the can.”
