June 1 was inauguration of the new Montana Shop Querétaro in Mexico. That in itself is worth mentioning, since it is a step forward for writers and artists in the country as well as for visitors to the city.
But that’s not the only reason.
There is something else we would like to tell you. We would like to tell you about the mural that brings the store’s façade to life that has been painted by graffiti artists Rhype One and Goal Maya, which you can see in the photos and video. Hopefully we’ll be able to visit it in person someday but for now we will have to settle for the images.
We also want to tell you about the intriguing Mexcalia project, materialized in the micro documentary by Nuevo Arte Urbano that you can see below and that serves -through art- as a bridge between Mexican and Spanish culture.
Through the prisms of Paola Delfín, Jassiel Rivera, Tania Quezada, León Ka, Socatoba, Daniel Muñoz, Pilar Cardenas, Sixe Paredes, Víctor López and Pogo, the project revisits the nature of the conflict that gave rise to Mexico’s cultural mix and proposes new ways of approaching the subject.
