What do we know about Slovenia? And its graffiti? Let’s try to shed some light on the country’s graffiti scene, focusing on its capital Ljubljana through the eyes of the writer Planet Rick.

Located between Italy, Croatia, Hungary and Austria we find Slovenia. If we zoom in, we can find in its capital Ljubljana a graffiti scene that perhaps is not very well known to us.
Planet Rick, a writer who has starred in some of our posts, has updated us on what’s going on there and who is working to promote the scene. Here are some words from the writer.

“Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, is home to 280,000 inhabitants and as of today has 13 legal hall of fames, but has never had more than 15 active writers at the same time.
Graffiti, in the New York/Philadelphian sense of the word, first appeared here in the late 1990s. A prominent international graffiti jam gave rise to what was, for several years, the first and only legal hall of fame, Metelkova.
This HOF was a former military compound, and is now a squat, and was for many years a meeting place for local and foreign writers. The graffiti scene in Ljubljana is small but diverse, with early influences coming from the neighbouring city of Zagreb. New writers have come and gone since then, but it is the old active writers that make up the scene as we know it today.”

Amor

Tattoo artist and graffiti writer. His walls vibrate with compositions where the imbalance of color and shapes create movement captured in time.

Azram 1107

This writer and illustrator stands out for his technical skill and a sense of humor that his characters radiate.

Boriz 1107

A sharp and crystalline wild style or clean typography is what you will find with this writer. He’s not half bad with characters either, that are simple in the purest sticker style.

Kapitan Kolačkov

This writer (also a tattoo artist) belongs to that school that offers up a selection of pieces and murals with compositions of an astonishing organic coldness, with intense colors that contrast sharply with their virgin backgrounds.

Lo Milo

With Lo Milo we find abstraction and simplicity both in the composition of his walls and his choice of color range.

Name

From this writer we can highlight, among other things, the project that you can find on this website, where we can peep a selection of the smallest graffiti in the world.

Planet Rick

Planet Rick is no stranger to us, as we have dedicated some posts to him. Through this blog interview you can get to know him better.

Reks ZEK

Reks ZEK is perhaps the most traditional writer on this list. His fresh style, effective color combinations and the occasional character spice up the mix.

Rone 84

Carefree lines and finishes that are both strong and intentionally close to punk is what you can find on this graffiti artist’s feed.

Trok ZEK

Trok moves gracefully between traditional graffiti and conceptual interventions. Walls, illustrations and debates about art.
