Smash137, Swiss writer internationally recognized for his sophisticated wildstyle, is the protagonist of our Three Aces.
Graffiti in Switzerland has given this culture a number of names associated with quality. From the mythical Dare to Rosy, Dream, Kesy or Toast. From among those names, and following the tradition of sophisticated graffiti, today we are introducing you to Smash 137’s 3 best pieces.
Smash137 started painting when he was 11 years old and in a short time, he stood out for his artistic side in addition to his facet as a writer.
His style hails from the classic features of Basel graffiti, but he distances himself from them by breaking, stretching and dissolving letters while maintaining their meaning and essence, something that makes him one of the most sophisticated writers of the international wildstyle. And these are his three aces.
“I just like it when my letters are a bit smarter than myself.”
- 2022
This is probably my favorite piece that I have painted so far. Of course I like the simplicity of it, but what makes it so outstanding for me is how the letters share shapes with each other to a point where I can hardly tell which form belongs to which letter. I guess I just like it when my letters are a bit smarter than myself.
“I definitely know that it does not help to overthink a painting.”
- 2021
It’s not a secret that I like back to back pieces, but this one I particularly like. I painted them in the beginning of December; I wore thick gloves and moved quite fast because of the cold. I am not sure if that’s the reason for the nice outcome, but I definitely know that it does not help to overthink a painting.
“painting freights is mostly a little battle against beams and other structures which interfere with your painting flow”

- Freight
I guess all of your readers know the benefit of freight trains. This picture, just to name one, got sent to me years later.
From my point of view this type of train is the unicorn under the freight trains and a very rare find. While painting freights is mostly a little battle against beams and other structures which interfere with your painting flow, this wagon is just perfectly flat and paint covers it like a freshly primed canvas. Needless to say, the joy of painting long lines that went directly into the letter structure.
