We are back, with a new installment of 3 Aces. This time we head over to the U.S.A. and ask Sheva for her 3 favorites.
Have you heard of her? Have you seen her style on freight trains? If the answer is no, we think it’s a shame and you need to do something about it.
Sheva is a prolific writer widely recognized for her consistency and self-sufficiency. Her devotion to quality and quantity has earned her a prominent place in American train graffiti.

Originally from Minnesota, she has been delivering style for decades. Here are some of her special features.
-She got a severe case of Raynauds syndrome while painting in the area where she lived, where it snows 6 months out of the year.
-As a result she moved to a warmer area which allowed her to paint more and in better conditions.
She started painting when she was a teenager and here she is today, still painting non-stop, through thick and thin.
-In the beginning she used to write Shiva, but she changed the I for an E, because she did not want to fall into cultural appropriation and because the E had more stylistic possibilities.
-She does not represent any particular group.
And here are her 3 Aces:

  • This is a favorite of mine, not because it’s good at all, but because it’s a double-decker passenger train whole car. Doing this whole car with Atom and Seyar pushed me way beyond what I thought I was capable of. Painting clean cars around Europe was the funnest shit ever and it made me see my US freight train addiction in a whole new way. I would love to do it again.

  • I’m pretty proud of this car. These new T Boxes have extra ridges that are awful to paint. Trying to get each line to match up over the ridges added a lot of up and down on the ladder. But I guess I like pretty graffiti and the ridiculous character added the perfect level of fun to it. He’s all happy and splashin’. Just splashin’.

  • So, this is a Sheva piece that got spray-buffed, topped by this Sheva piece you see in the picture. It’s lucky that I found it. When I saw the buff over the numbers, I knew some poor soul had been dissed and searched the car. Then, well, I saw that the older photos had a Sheva piece on this panel. It was a huge bummer to say the least. I hit up my friend who reminded me that others have been buffed by this same guy, to take a number and to get back to work.
I picked this piece because, well I like the frog, I mean come on look at that guy! But it’s a reminder to just keep painting for me. Haters gonna hate, I’mma paint a frog on this train.
