This 2024 brings together many even-numbered birthdays, including that of MTN Shop Barcelona – Born that took place the last week. The first of the MTN stores is no longer a “teenager”, and with this in mind it threw a great party complete with a ton of interesting activities that brought together nearly the entire local graffiti scene. The result exceeded all expectations…

A succulent discount, a free t-shirt designed by Fasim 156, an exhibition of WTF Stickers signed by the most notable clients, another exhibition with more than 10 years of analog photographs, free beer, Yowin, D. Nadie, Mr. Neo and Cecilio G on the microphone, the presentation of the MTN Files magazine… The 20th anniversary celebration lineup of the first MTN store couldn’t have been fresher, and nobody was going to sleep on it. And when it comes to graffiti writers, we all know what that means…What beef would be unleashed? Would any fights break out? Would the police come because of the crowd, the noise or the neighbors? Well, none of that happened!
Hundreds of people attended the event, turning the party into an idyllic multigenerational gathering. From old-schoolers to new generations, the age range had never been so broad. Part of the blame was on the musical showcase guests, key celebrities who connected the purity of graffiti with the most unfettered urban music styles from different generations. A sample of the importance of graffiti as a creative seed in popular culture.
The evening could not have been more endearing; friends catching up who had not seen each other for a long time, as well as old and new personalities who show up to support initiatives, rinsed down with beer and a musical selection of the infallible Dj Chusbu. But if there was something worth pointing out in this celebration, it was the absence of altercations and incidents that have traditionally characterized festive gatherings between writers.
If the MTN Shop Barcelona – Born established itself as a reference and model for how to manage a graffitishop, its birthday is now an example of how to throw the perfect writers party. By the way, the exhibition of tags and snapshots THEY WHERE THERE is still up on the walls of the MTN Cafè & Restaurant and the MTN Shop Barcelona – Born.
